DO YOU BEHAVE LIKE A CHILD?

Today’s Readings:

Ezekiel 18:1-10,13,30-32;

Psalm 51:12-15,18-19

Matthew 19:13-15

Here are two things you should bear in mind as a Christian:

  • Be trusting as a child.

  • You are responsible for your actions and they have consequences.

You are a trusting child when you:

  • Use your gifts for service to God’s kingdom.

  • Rely on God always.

  • Seek divine approval for any plan in prayers.

  • Never let your gifts and achievements go to your head.

  • Continue to walk humbly with your God.

  • Call on God daily.

  • Study God’s word daily.

  • Pray for a new heart and a steadfast spirit.

What then does it mean to be responsible for your actions?

It means that:

  • You study and understand the implications of the Commandments of God.

  • You think about the implications of your thoughts, words and actions.

  • You say and do everything from a place of love and respect for yourself and others.

  • You repent and receive forgiveness in the sacrament of penance.

  • You draw strength daily from the faithful reception of the Holy Eucharist.

  • You seek forgiveness from those you have offended in any way.

  • You realise that you are meant to leave everyone better than you met them.

  • You do not pose as an occasion of sin for others but reflect God’s blessings.

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Lord, create in me a new heart and a pure spirit.

  2. Lord, do not hold my past sins against me.

  3. Lord, forgive my carelessness in words and actions.

  4. Lord, help me to use every moment I have to make you known and loved by others.

  5. Lord, make me a source of blessings for everyone I know.

  6. Lord, let my actions today be pleasing to You.

  7. Lord, hold me close and never let me go astray. Amen.

  8. Lord, hold me and my loved ones close to Your heart and never let us go astray. May goodness and mercy follow us always. Amen.
