JESUS IN THE MIDST OF HIS PEOPLE

Today’s Reading:

Haggai 2:1-9; Luke 9:18-22

It seems miracle is dispensational – it looks as if God does not move amidst of His people in this present age as of old; but contrary to this opinion, God never reduced his lordship or withhold his awesome work. The way people work and walk with God is different. The people of old believed in God of Yahweh though they often commit sin against God – God used punishment to bring them back to Himself but this time around many people does not even believe in the existence of God let alone accepting Him as their Saviour. This makes it looks as if God is far away from this generation – they continue doing things in their own way forgetting the creator of their souls.

Anyone who pays no attention to God will go far from the Lord until he vanishes from the sight of God – even when God mercifully calls him would not recognize Him calling. Any time God manifest in their midst, they see him as another super-being, not as the creator and saviour of the world. God promised to revisit his people (Haggai 2:6-7) but when he came to them they misidentified Him. Some people identified Him as John the Baptist who had been beheaded, some identified Him as Elijah who had come and went in the human body of John (Matt. 11:12-14; 17:12) while some people identified Him as one of the prophets. The only people that could identify Him well were his disciples. Anyone that wants to identify Him well must move closer to Him as they will enjoy His Kingship over them. (Luke 9:20)
