RULE IN THE MIDST OF YOUR ENEMIES

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 110: 1-4 NKJV

The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies! Your people shall be volunteers In the day of Your power; In the beauties of holiness, from the womb of the morning, You have the dew of Your youth. The LORD has sworn And will not relent, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.” (Psalm 110:1-4  NKJV)

The plan of God for us from the beginning of creation is to dominate; to rule (Genesis 1: 28). According to 1 Peter 2: 9 -  “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.” Wherever we are and in whatever situation we find ourselves, we are meant to proclaim God’s praise and also reveal His power. Therefore, we should not run from our enemies, but they should run from us. Indeed, we are in the midst of them, but they are under the feet of Jesus, hence we should be looking down on them from above because we are seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2: 6). An awareness of the power we have in Christ should cause us to rise in confidence, boldness, and authority. Even if we are surrounded by enemies, we can rule in the midst of them and be “more than conquerors” through Christ whom we are seated with - Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37).  In 1 Samuel 17, we saw David faced Goliath with the mindset of a conqueror, and he killed the giant that had been terrorizing his people (1 Samuel 17: 48-50). He indeed became a victor.  “Therefore, David ran and stood over the Philistine, took his sword and drew it out of its sheath killed him, and cut off his head with it. And when the Philistines saw that their champion was dead, they fled.” (1 Samuel 17: 51).

TO RULE IN THE MIDST OF YOUR ENEMIES YOU NEED TO HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINDSET:

  1. You must have a revelation of God’s greatness. The One you are aligned to is the creator of all things (Genesis 1: 1). Everything is under His control. Therefore, you are engaged in an enterprise that can never fail. The Almighty God will ensure your victory in every situation because you have been empowered to do all things in His strength. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”  (Philippians 4: 13)

  2. You must have a winning mentality; a victorious spirit in the midst of every difficult situation. Man is appointed to rule over all the work of God’s hands (Genesis 1: 26). Carry the spirit of royalty, rulership, dominion, and God-given authority wherever you are and when faced with any challenge.

  3. You must be willing to be used by God. That is, you are not by yourself. You have a MASTER. God’s army is a volunteer army; His people will volunteer freely. One of the distinguishing marks of a true believer is to ask,  “What do you want me to do, Lord?” God uses people who are willing to be used.

  4. Recognize God as your senior partner and surrender to His authority and power. God is powerful (Psalm 62: 11, Isaiah 40: 29); His kingdom is one of power. Do not doubt His power and sovereignty. In a twinkle of an eye, the power of God can change anything and everything. That seemingly impossible situation can be reversed by the powerful authority of heaven.

  5. Be holy. “And you shall be holy to Me, for I the LORD am holy, and have separated you from the peoples, that you should be Mine”. (Leviticus 20: 26). Note that you are special to God and therefore, you must exhibit His nature; HOLINESS. We are separated unto the Lord; not just from sin but from God. Holiness in all ramifications is foundational to it all. Live for His glory. “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10: 31)

  6. You must be born again. Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3: 3). Your life must be transformed; from DARKNESS to LIGHT. The nature of God must be implanted within. You must forsake your old lifestyle of sin and receive the seed of greatness to make you rule in the midst of your enemy.

  7. You must be a Royal priesthood that understands the value of releasing heaven’s will and power into the earth. “Give unto the LORD, O you mighty ones, Give unto the LORD glory and strength. 2) Give unto the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.” (Psalm 29: 1-2);  pray without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5: 17).

If you want to rule in the midst of your enemy, you need to surrender to the one who is called “The Lord of Hosts”. He is holy and loves you despite your current situation. He hates sin; hence you have to yield to Him so he can change your life and give you everything needed to rule as royalty. Please genuinely pray the following prayer and Jesus will give you a new beginning:

                                                                                                IRETI SOLOLA

To surrender your life to Christ, say this prayer aloud. “Father, I acknowledge my sin against You. I repent and ask for forgiveness, in the name of Jesus. I surrender to the Lordship of Jesus. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, take control of my heart and lead me in Your path of righteousness. Thank you, Lord. Wash me with Your blood, I believe You died for me; on the third day, you rose again that I may be justified.”

If you said the prayer, Congratulations! Prayerfully look for a living church and report to the resident reverend, pastor or priest.

Prayer:

  1. Bless the creator of heaven and the earth. The One who was, who is and who is to come. Magnify El Sabaoth, the One in control of all hosts, in heaven, on earth and beneath. Thank Him for His mighty power and for all He has been to you and your family in the name of Jesus.

  2. Prayer of mercy. In any way I have fallen short of your glory, let mercy draw me out. Ask Him to forgive all your sins, and show you mercy in every area of your life in the name of Jesus.

  3. Father, please deliver me from fear and unbelief so that your power will continuously be revealed in my life in Jesus’ name.

  4. Father, please reveal more of yourself to me and lead me in the path of righteousness in the name of Jesus.

  5. Father, please be merciful unto my nation and let peace reign in Jesus’ name.

  6. Let the church of God continue to match on triumphantly in Jesus’ name.
