Today’s Reading:

Psalm 130

“Out of the depths I cry to you, LORD; Lord, hear my voice. Let your ears be attentive to my cry for mercy.” (vv. 1-2)

If there is anything that can sink a man quickly, that can bring a man down from grace to grass, it is sin. Sin sinks a man until it finishes one’s destiny. Sin is sweet at the initial stage, but the wages is terrible (Romans 6:23a, James 1:15). I see the Psalmist crying out of the depths of sin pleading for mercy. Sin takes a man farther than he wants to go, sin costs you more than you can afford. Sin strips a man naked of God’s protection and removes God’s hedge around him. Sin renders a man useless and powerless in the battles of life. Sin exposes a man to attacks from the pit of hell and grants the devil access into one’s assets. Sin puts a man into a prison and makes him prisoner here and hereafter except there is intervention of the power of the cross.

The convicted psalmist cries for mercy and is forgiven (vv 1-4). One way of having freedom from the jail/prison of sin is to confess (I John 1:9). Our God is faithful to forgive once confession is made and also to cleanse totally. But the problem with our generation is that we are righteous in our own eyes. People cover up sin, they gave sin different names like it is wisdom, it is a style, it is a common thing, and everybody is doing it. I am sure the devil is happy with all these, but heaven is crying.

Are you in the pit of sin? Have you been struggling with a particular sin in your life? Why not cry to God as the Psalmist did in our text and forgiveness and restoration will be yours. You may need to seek further counsel. Do it now, do not delay because tomorrow may be too late.

JAMES ALADE

Prayer:

  1. Father, forgive me of my sins in Jesus name

  2. Powers of sin over my life and destiny be destroyed in Jesus name

  3. Let there be total evacuation of this adamic nature in my life in Jesus name

  4. For as many are in the pit or prison of sin, let the blood shed at Calvary speak for their deliverance in Jesus name.
