THE HOLY SPIRIT

Today’s Reading:

Luke 1: 41-42

For there are three that bear record in Heaven, The Father, The Word, and the Holy Spirit and these three are one (1 John 5:7.) The three of them were present at creation. The Spirit exercised control over the chaotic waters at the beginning of creation in Genesis 1:2. We have God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. The three of them are inseparable. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity through whom God acts, reveals his will, empowers individuals, and discloses His personal presence. That was why God said let us create man in our own image.

A careful reading of Luke 1: 41-42 revealed to us that the word “Leaped” was a Greek word commonly used to refer to the leaping in play of young children and animals. But here it has a very deep spiritual meaning in that here was a leaping of the unborn infants that was like the natural movement of unborn babies. This leaping was meant to signal Divine intervention, and thus the presence of God in the pregnancy. The result of Elizabeth being filled with the Holy Spirit resulted in her miraculous declarations of verses 42-45. She was inspired by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Man is the Candle of the Lord, searching all the inward parts of the belly. (Proverbs 20:27.) Holy Spirit is the comforter that Jesus promised will be with us to guard and guide us until his second coming (John 16: 7.) The Holy Spirit dwells in us. It is as gentle as a Dove which was epitomized at Jesus’s Baptism. The Baptism of Jesus was a watershed in biblical history as he was anointed by the Spirit of God (Luke 3: 22). The Holy Spirit was then responsible for thrusting Jesus out into the wilderness to undergo temptation (Luke 4: 1-13.) Baptism is beautiful. That is why Jesus asked us to be baptized of water and the Spirit (as he himself was) in order to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:5.)

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with Holy Ghost and with power who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him (Acts 10:38) Baptism is very important. It makes us part of the Church and allows us to enter the kingdom of God. Something wonderful happens at Baptism. If you have not been baptized you need to ensure you see your pastor and get yourself baptized and after this, seek the gift of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues. We must invite the Holy Spirit into our lives and ask God not to take away the Holy Spirit from us. David did the same in Psalm 51:11 when he asked God not to take away the Holy Spirit from him. There are so many things that can prevent us from igniting the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives especially Sin even if we speak in tongue for ages. God admonishes us not to grieve the Holy Spirit because the danger in that is that although all sins may be forgiven but sins against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven as the dire consequence is damnation of hell fire. We must not speak against the Holy Spirit. We must bridle our tongue when the Holy Spirit is in focus. It is the Spirit that quickens, the flesh profits nothing the word that I speak to you they are spirit and they are life (John 6: 63.) Paul admonishes us not to grieve the Holy Spirit, so that one will not be sealed unto the day of redemption (Ephesians 4:30.)

We must ask the Holy Spirit to give us the revelation that will advance us in all areas. If one is not moving forward, one must check the effort that one is putting in. Ecclesiastes 10:10 is very clear on this “If the iron be blunt, and he do not whet the edge, then must he put to more strength: but wisdom is profitable to direct”

  1. Holy Spirit of God, dwell in me, dwell outside of me and surround me in the name of Jesus.

  2. Anything in me, anything outside of me, anything that is around me that is chasing away the Holy Spirit, depart now in the name of Jesus.

  3. Fresh anointing of the Holy Spirit, fall upon me and my family now in the name of Jesus.

  4. Oh God our father in your mercy, fill your church, our Ministers and Pastors with the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus.
