THE POWER OF PRAYER

Today’s Reading:

Psalm 16;

Song of Solomon 8:6-7;

John 20:11-20

Prayer simply means divine communication with God. Prayer is the most important thing in the life of a Christian. The Bible admonishes us to pray in Philippians 4:6. Prayer brings radical transformation into fulfilling our divine destiny. There is no problem that God cannot solve but we have to come to him in prayers. God says open your mouth wide and I will fill it. God says call upon me in the day of trouble and I will answer thee and show thee great and mighty things which thou did not know. When a Christian prays it means he is inviting God into his situation that needs urgent resolution. The Bible says ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you. (Luke 11 v. 9-13). Good measure press down shaking together shall men bring into your bosom.

A Christian life is meaningless without prayer. The Psalmist says if the foundation be destroyed what can the righteous do? But beloved, the righteous can pray. Jabez was born into a poverty-stricken family, his situation was so bad that her mother called him Jabez because he was born in sorrow. He saw his situation and knew that only prayer can get him out. He therefore prayed and made his requests known unto God. God in his mercy answered him and his fortunes changed for the best. God blessed him mightily and used him to re-write his family history (. 1 Chronicles 4 v.10). Paul and Silas sang and prayed, and the Holy Ghost came down and delivered them from prison. (Acts 16:25-40).

Daniel was a man of prayer. He persisted in prayers and his angel of blessings that was detained at the second heavens got reinforcement from God and he got his blessings. His case is a classic example of persistence in prayers. The same thing happened in the case of the widow in Luke 18: 1 where Christ teaches us to always pray and not faint. Hannah prayed in desperation and God granted her request for a son and gave her Samuel. Prayer is the key that unlocks blessings. Jesus prayed at every point in his life and ministry. He taught his disciples how to pray. Beloved it is time for us to make prayer a habit. The Psalmist says in the morning will I direct my prayers unto thee and look up. A man can receive nothing except it is given to him from above. Be a prayer addict as from today and experience the raw power of God.
